News from Lezayre
We had no requisition meeting this year as Mr Eddie Teare MHK was returned unnopposed. Mr Teare did however hold a public meeting in Sulby which was attended by 35+ parishioners. He outlined what he would like to achieve in the coming five years and this was followed by a question and answer evening. We wish Eddie well for his following term in government.
My main event again this year was the Thomas Fayle party for primary school children living in the Parish of Lezayre. This was first set up in 1986/87 when the late Thomas Fayle bequested £12,000 for the Captain of the Parish of Lezayre to invest: the interest on this money was to be spent on giving the children of Lezayre a Christmas Party. This year we held the party in Lezayre Parish Hall and was attended by about seventy children under the age of eleven. Rex and Graham started the party off with their magic and then we played games. An excellent tea was prepared and served by family and friends and, the help by a few of the parents was greatly appreciated. Mickey Mouse arrived to entertain and play games and the afternoon ended with a visit from Father Christmas when all the children had a small present to take home - thank you Mr Bosman.
It was a great pleasure for me to accept the invitation to Sulby School Christmas show. It was an excellent evening with all children playing a part. The singing and the costumes were superb - I am sure it should have been held at the Gaiety.
May I belatedly wish everyone a very healthy and peaceful 2007.
Yours
Denis
